Your freshest dining option in San Francisco may not be in the City at all. If you’re enthused about trying something new and exciting for lunch or dinner, enjoy a leisurely drive down the coast to La Costanera restaurant in scenic Half Moon Bay, California.
This very special seaside Peruvian restaurant is Chef Carlos Altamirano’s most recently-opened eatery but it is by no means his first foray into the world of Bay Area fine dining. Piqueo’s in the Mission District and Mochica south of Market Street were already beloved by discerning local diners when Altamirano opened La Costanera in October 2009. Legend has it that when the chef and his wife first visited the old Chart House property, they were enchanted by the way the winding coast south of Devil’s Slide appeared so similar to Altamirano’s native Peru.
